Getting started with RunPack: your first run, check-in and crew
RunPack is now on the App Store. How to record your first run with iPhone GPS, do the 10-second morning check-in, and start or join a private running crew.
RunPack is free on the App Store for iPhone. It works with just your phone; a watch or ring makes some things better but is never required. Here’s how to get going in a few minutes.
1. Record your first run
RunPack opens on the Run tab. Tap Start run. RunPack uses your iPhone’s GPS and keeps recording with the screen locked, so you can put the phone in your pocket. You’ll see your route, distance, pace and time, and a Live Activity on the Lock Screen.
- Pause and Resume whenever you stop at a crossing or for water.
- Finish saves the run to Apple Health as a workout with its route.
- Runs shorter than 30 seconds aren’t kept.
Already run with an Apple Watch, Garmin or another app that writes to Apple Health? Those runs count too. More in tracking runs without an Apple Watch.
2. Do the morning check-in
On the Today tab, the morning check-in takes about ten seconds: hours slept, sleep quality, how you feel and how sore you are. RunPack turns that into a check-in score compared with your own normal, and your answers stay on your phone. If you wear an Apple Watch, Garmin, WHOOP or Oura that writes to Apple Health, you also get a recovery score built from your sleep, heart rate variability and training load. See how hard should I run today?
3. Start or join a crew
A crew is a small private group of running friends. Open the Crews tab, sign in with Apple or Google, then tap + and choose New crew or Join with a code. Step by step in how to start a crew in RunPack.
4. Share your runs (if you want to)
When you finish a run you choose whether to share it with your crews: route, distance, time and pace, never heart rate. Shared runs show up in your crew’s private feed, where friends can react with 🔥, 👏 or 💪. You can delete a run from every crew at any time; it stays in Apple Health.
Free, and what Plus adds
Recording runs, the check-in, recovery scores and crews of up to 4 are free. With RunPack Plus, one person pays for the whole crew ($4.99 a month or $39.99 a year in the US) and the crew gets up to 30 members, route maps and photos in the feed, crew goals and full history.
