Running crew names: 60+ ideas for your run club or group
Name ideas for a running crew, club or group chat, sorted by style: your place, the time you run, puns, and inside jokes. Plus how to pick one that sticks.
A good crew name is short, easy to say out loud, and means something to the people in it. The best ones usually come from where you run, when you run, or something that happened on a run. Here are ideas by style. Swap in your own street, park or city.
Named after where you run
- [Park name] Pack · [Street] Striders · [Neighbourhood] Run Crew
- Riverside Runners · Canal Crew · Harbour Harriers · Bridge Club
- Hill Repeaters · Seafront Six · Lakeside Laps · Trailhead Gang
- The Loop · Two Bridges · The Long Way Round · Park Gate Crew
Named after when you run
- Sunrise Society · 6am Club · Dawn Patrol · First Light Runners
- Lunch Break Legs · Tuesday Track Crew · Midweek Milers
- Sunday Long Run Club · Weekend Warriors · Saturday Social Run
- After Work Run Club · Night Owls Run Crew · Headtorch Gang
Puns and wordplay

For a relaxed, all-paces group

- Run for Coffee · Run for Brunch · Will Run for Pastries · Café Crew
- Back of the Pack · Talk and Trot · Easy Does It · Conversational Pace
Short ones that fit anywhere

Inside jokes beat clever puns
The names that last are often the ones nobody outside the group gets: the dog that chased you, the wrong turn that added 3 km, the café you always end at. If something keeps getting retold after runs, that’s probably your name.
How to pick one
- Say it out loud. If it’s awkward to say “see you at ___ tomorrow”, it won’t stick.
- Keep it short. It has to fit on a phone screen, a group chat title and maybe a T-shirt.
- Check it isn’t taken locally. A quick search avoids clashing with an established club down the road.
- Let the group vote between three, not thirty.
Then give it a home
Once you have a name, you need somewhere for the crew to live. In RunPack the name is the crew: you start one, send the invite link, and everyone’s runs land in a private feed under that name. Free for up to 4 people. See how a RunPack crew works, or read what makes a run crew first.
