RunPack vs Nike Run Club: which suits running with friends?
Nike Run Club is great for free guided runs and shared challenges; RunPack is a private feed for a small crew. How they compare for running with friends.
RunPack is our app, so weigh this accordingly. Nike Run Club is a free, polished run tracker best known for its guided audio runs and friendly challenges. RunPack is built around a private crew: the few people you run with, their runs in one feed, and nobody else. They suit different groups.
Where Nike Run Club shines
- Guided runs: audio coaching for easy runs, speed sessions and long runs.
- Training plans for races, free.
- Challenges with friends: create one, invite people, follow a leaderboard.
- iPhone and Android. Mixed groups can all join.
Where RunPack is different
- A private crew feed: everyone’s runs (recorded with the iPhone, an Apple Watch or a Garmin) in one place only the crew sees, with route, pace and photos, never heart rate.
- No leaderboards. RunPack’s crew goals and the weekly challenge in its next version are about everyone finishing, with each person’s target set from their own running.
- A daily “how hard today?”: a 10-second morning check-in, and a morning card for the crew on who’s fresh.
- Picks up runs from other apps through Apple Health, so friends can keep the watch or app they like.
What it costs
Nike Run Club is free. RunPack is free for crews of up to 4; RunPack Plus ($4.99 a month or $39.99 a year) is paid by one person and covers a crew of up to 30.
Which to pick
- Nike Run Club if you want free coaching, a training plan for a race, or your group includes Android users.
- RunPack if you want a private place to see your friends’ runs every day, on iPhone, without a public profile or rankings.
- Both: record with whichever you like. Runs that reach Apple Health show up in your RunPack crew.
Nike Run Club features are as we understand them in October 2026 and can change. Nike Run Club is a trademark of Nike; RunPack isn’t affiliated with Nike.
